Limonaire remains the name
most often assocciated with mechanical music. it
is the name of a famiiy of Italian origin living
in Paris before 1845 and knowing how to look
after the Limonaire image. We really had to
exhibit an instrument whose family name has
become the common name of mechanical organs in
everyday language
From the musical point of
view, its composition is classic: two ranks of 19
violins for the melody, six flutes + cellos for
the accompaniment and six bourdons for the bass,
all being kept in time by percussion instruments.
The small merry-go-round organ has survived
through the ages, fresh as our childhood dreams.
