enclosed a coin-operated
mechanism which distributed 
chocolates or horoscopes. The
joviality of the "Negro" face with
its surprised look is a permanent 
feature of the fair right up until the
1920’s; It can be found as a 
boxer or an "Uncle Tom", 
machines used to measure one’s 
strength, and later in shops on as 
a small bellboy holding advertising 
boards.
